Bible Study from an Unbiased View.

One of the most interesting things that I have observed on many  forums, sites, from debunkers,  and  from different occultists in general is the constant negativity towards Judaic, and Christian teachings.  Of course this is not to say that everyone behaves in this matter.  However a majority without any knowledge of the Bible will often react negatively towards any of the three major Abrahamic faiths pointing out their flaws, and overlooking the more positive teachings.  This is actually a serious downfall to the development of the aspiring adept because it limits his abilities to explore, and learn about other philosophies, and expand his wisdom.

This negative view is often misguided, and many non scientific, or academic arguments against the established monotheistic religions are little more then childish bashing, and petty remarks. There are some however who do present good arguments against the major doctrines but some do so while distorting facts, and arguing with half truths.  In fact this is even becoming an almost elitist trend, and one that makes such followers no better then the ignorant inquisitors of the middle ages, and no better then the corrupt religious officials that have been involved in the modern day priest scandals that no doubt have been around way before mass media could expose them.

This is of course not to say that detractors of the Bible are in the same moral standard as the religious extremist just because they don’t know how to present a more organized, and unbiased report on their views.  But the hostility is similar to the very people that they condemn.  It’s in fact more a matter of hypocrisy, and lack of a deeper understanding of the things that they oppose.

Of course  one can argue on whether or not it’s the fault of their own. There may be for example negative psychological, and physical experiences which have aroused such a strong feeling towards monotheism.  It’s study can bring back painful memories or there may simply be a lack of interest.

Personally I’m not a Christian, nor am I Jewish.  My family was Christian, and through the personal tutors, and the wag of the finger ( “read the Bible, and pray everyday.  You know what happens to bad children!”) I was able to learn so much about Christianity, and Judaism even though I wasn’t dedicated or interested at the time.  However having a father who was an atheist, humanist, and a business man who picked himself up out of nowhere  I was able to view things in an objective matter.

The purpose of this article is to introduce a personal study on the Bible, and the Jewish, and Christian faiths.  This will of course expand to other faiths, and is a project that will take a long time  to truly ever complete.  Either way it’s something that I  am willing to undertake, and hope to get started with in possibly a month or two.  It will deal with the study of each of the books of the Bible, and will also tackle some of the main issues important to Judaism, and Christianity.  As said before this similar process will be used to extend to other faiths.

Those involved in the study of Western Esoterica will no doubt find this very useful.  I encourage you however to do your own research, and come up with your own conclusions.  I am not a theologian major, and have not attended any seminary.  I am just a curious seeker looking to give an unbiased view, and possibly inspire, and help all others.  My hope is that through future works I can help make certain concepts more understandable.

  1. 93 marquis,

Indeed there are quite a few gems buried in the Old & New Testament, although the process is akin to extracting gold from dross. I wrote an article a long time ago investigating certain lines of the Bible briefly. I look forward to your own investigations.
